Stan joined the firm in January 2004 as Manager of the Salisbury Office to provide the Delmarva Peninsula with tax, accounting and business consultation services to individuals, business entities, and not-for-profit organizations. He brings to Rowles & Company many years and a wide range of experience in both private industry and public accounting.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University in Baltimore, Stan started his accounting career as a staff accountant for the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company and continued to pursue accounting courses through post-graduate study at the University of Baltimore and Loyola College. He also held positions in the Baltimore area on the internal audit staff of First National Bank of Maryland and at the division level of accounting for the Graphic Arts Group of American Standard, Inc. in Cockeysville, Maryland.
In 1977, Stan left Maryland for the Southwest and Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he lived for over twenty years. There he held accounting management positions in hospital and highway construction organizations, and was a special agent investigating white-collar crime for the New Mexico Attorney General's Office. He entered public accounting in 1984, obtained a New Mexico CPA certificate in 1986, and then started and operated a tax and accounting practice until late 2000. Stan obtained his Maryland CPA certificate in 2000, and was corporate controller for a manufacturing company until his recent return to public accounting.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Society of Accountants. Over the years, Stan has been involved as a volunteer or Board member of many charitable and civic organizations. He is a member of the Salisbury Optimist Club, Treasurer of the Riverwoods Homeowners Association, and Vice-President of the Living History Society of Delaware. He served as Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Salisbury.
Stan enjoys home remodeling projects, Civil War history and reenacting, outdoor activities, and walks on the beach with his wife Nancyellen. They have three children.
